Check if fermentation is over |
Why do I need to check if fermentation has finished? You need to know when it is time to add stabiliser and finings. If you add stabiliser before fermentation is over, it is a bit like hitting the break in a lorry in full speed. It will not work very well. Also, if you manage to stabilise your brew before the yeast was done with its job, there will be residual sugar and this will make fining more difficult. How to do it: Your fermentation is over when you have the same reading for several days. Then of course, if your final reading is too high: DO NOT ADD STABILISER. Instead try to get the fermentation going again. |
