Fermentation does not start
Wine kit (or beer kit): No bubbles in your airlock, no activity. Has it started fermenting or what? What to do, what to check.

Stuck fermentations
Wine or beer kit fermented a bit but stopped prematurely. Still sweet, not as much alcohol as expected. What can be done?
Difficulties removing CO2
When your wine making kit just won't loose the CO2, no matter how much you shake it. If you don't adress this problem properly, there is a risk your wine won't clear properly later.
Fining problems
Your wine kit will not clear. Wait, add another fining agent or what?
The hydrometer
The universal instrument for home brewing. Calculate alcohol content of wine, beer or wash. Find out when it is finished - exactly. Use it for exact sweetening of wines etc.
The wine alcohol meter
Use it for wine alcohol ONLY - not for beer, liqueur etc. This is a convenient instrument to use but you need to know its limitations or you will get it totally wrong.
